Both codes are indicating a too lean condition on the front and rear cylinder banks. Basically there is extra air coming into the engine that isn't getting measured. This could be caused by a dirty MAF sensor which is supposed to measure the amount of incoming air. It could also be a loose or cracked vacuum hose somewhere inboard of the the MAF that is letting extra air in. (That isn't measured...)

I have the same problem, i did find that PCV hose was cracked. So i replaced it and PCV valve at the same time. Contacted local mazda and was told that check engine light will go away right away. But it haven't yet, i even drove 50+ miles (as i was told) to reset comp. Anyone have any suggestions how to reset it quicker. I did stop by autozone and got reading for 2 codes (0171, 0174) both Low fuel pressure, large vacuum leak, dirty MAF, ect.
