I'm experiencing a minor oil leak/drip with my 2005 Mazda 6s (3L V6, MTX). The leak is minor enough that no oil is leaking onto the ground but it is leaking enough to have a drop occationally land on the exhaust which results in an oil burning smell. I thought the leak might have been a bad crank seal (harmonic balancer seal), but after replacing that seal I still have a leak. It almost seems like the leak is coming from somewhere above where the crank seal is located. Are there any known oil leak issues with this car so I have a starting point to start my search?

There are three seals which have a tendency to go on our motors.
1) Rear main seal 2) Oil pan gasket 3) Front crank seal I just had the exact same issue as you and needed to replace the oil pan gasket. My rear main seal is also letting a few drips out but it's not bad enough to warrant tearing the transmission out to replace. Check your oil pan gasket on the passenger side for signs of leakage.
