how many quarts of oil does 2004 mazda 6s take up????for some reason i put around 6..i think im putting in too much...does any1 kno?

6 quarts Total(crankcase+oilfilter)...thats what the manual says, so thats how much I put in

Always good to read the manual first!

By the way, the dipstick is a bitch to read, especially when you just changed your oil.

Thats why I let the engine drip for about 20 min.

At least its an even number...my gf's corolla needs 3.7 quarts.

yeah I'm doing 4.6 now drive it and check the dipstick for lil bubbles on it...

Well, mine is a 2003 6S. So it's 5.5 quarts. I have to estimate the 0.5 quart also.

I wish it could be an even number so I have No left over to disgard! I remmebr my neon was like that. I was gonna get a morosso pan and have like 6qts in a 2.0!

ya i put in 6 quarts and the dipstick reads at the very top of the safe level even 2 days later!
