These are examples of wheel spacers:



If you're going to use wheel spacers, H&R is probably the best. However, anytime you do this, there is some inherent risk of failure as you are adding an additional component to the wheel/brake assembly. However, I'm sure H&R will tell you that, when used correctly, spacers are safe.
