Ok my friend has a 2006 mazda 6 with the 2.3l in it and over the weekend one of her friends was driving it and blew a rod and blew a hole in the oil pan. he said it downshifted into second when he was on the highway so the engine is junk now. Someone told her that a 2.2l chevy engine will fit in and said it would need a new wiring harness. wouldnt it need a new computer also and any other mods you can think of let me know she pretty much needs it to be as cheap as possible. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Someone told her something stupid.
Sure it will fit, but will require a ton of custom harness work and engine management to work. You would also need a new trans, or adapter plate.... custom mounts. Custom exhaust, custom this, custom that...... Cheap that plan is not..... Time to start shopping around. Just got a quote from sheldon@mazmart.com on a replacment engine for my boy's 2.3L. I gotta get on getting that replaced. |

A few options. fusion 2.3. Focus 2.3. Would need the head from the mazda though. Or buy a refurbed 2.3. Do not put another make's engine in it... That's a terrible way to save money.
