Default What causes gas in oil

So as most people know I have a rod knock in my 03 m6 and i still drive it even with the rod knock cause it hasnt lost any power just the knocking sound. Anywho, I noticed that when I was checking the oil when it had the rod knock and I didnt know where the oil went cause it wasnt leaking out the bottom anywhere and I thought it was just burning it for some reason but didnt know why cause I dont have any check engine lights on. So I had been monitoring the oil very closly to see if after i filled the oil back up if it was burning the oil fast and what not and for the next few months the oil level didnt go down at all so i ignored it for a little bit. Well yesterday I just checked it again and there is almost no oil on the stick. But here is the catch it smells like gas. And I took the oil fill cap off and smelled it and it to smelled like gas. What would cause gas to get into the oil? Im thinking something injector related but I dont know what cause its not throwing any codes

Your rings are probably bad...

I would stop driving the car man. Get that motor taken care of.

So question. I wanna either get a new motor or rebuild it. Which would be cheaper if I pay a shop to do it cause me and my dad don't have the time. I still have a project car in my garage that's been there for 5 years cause we don't have time. I figure if I rebuild it it will be stronger an it's hard to find a used motor around my way without paying 2k just for the motor. Any advise

If you aren't doing the work then replace. If you do the work then rebuild.

Ok. I wonder how much a motor is gonna cost from the dealer and for them to put it in. I don't think I have any shops around here that even semi specialize in mazdas that aren't rotary

If the rod bearings are going/gone the piston is under extra load and rocking in the bore which creates MORE blow-by during combustion. The burned and unburned A/F goes past the rings & piston into the oil.

How many miles on this and how often was the oil changed? Just curious. . .

The car has 112279 on it now. I had a couple people offer me 2500 for it but I feel it's at least worth 3k in the condition it's in being that it still drives. What do u all think. The oil was changed about every 4 months or 4k miles if not earlier

So I just called the dealer just to find out how outrageous it was gonna be and he said for just a short block 5500 installed and he said they would have to inspect the heads and I asked how much to replace them and he said tack on another 2k so 7500. I have a feeling I am gonna have to wait it out a while
