Default Engine does not start

I have Mazda 6i 2003 (2.3L I-4), automatic. I was driving yesterday with no probs. When I tried starting it this morning, it did not at all. When I turn the ignition key to the Start position it does not even do any noise, nothing, as if it was dead... I do not know what it could be. I have recently repaired the starter (was functioning ok all the time after), the battery seems to be ok (at least I was told so by car electrician). So can anyone advise me what it could be?

Both were working. I managed to get it started yesterday evening. After I turned key to the start position, it took engine 2-3 secs not to react and then it started. Still the check engine light was on. Today it was already off. Anyway, I'll get it to the service on Saturday.

Everything worked: lights, radio, dashboard. It never sweeps gauge and this time neither. Didn't have another battery around to jump it. But I checked my battery last week, it was ok. The thing is that the engine did nothing, not a single sound. I was advised by someone, it could be immobilizer malfunctioning.

Wow, what are the odds of that.
I have the same problem. Began yesterday. Car wouldnt start and still isnt starting.
The key light flashes in the display cluster once I try to turn the ignition.
Suspecting it's immobilizer malfunction as well or a sudden loss of recognition of my key by the ignition.
I'm stumped. Any ideas?

"Security" or Key-shaped light flashes on the dashboard - Many cars these days are equipped with an immobilizer. (you can find more information about the immobilizer in your owner's manual). The immobilizer allows the engine to run only if the correct key is used. If your car has an immobilizer, you probable see a "Security" or Key-shaped light coming on on the dashboard every time you turn the ignition ON. If this light is flashing when you turn the ignition ON, it could mean that there is some problem with an immobilizer or the system does not recognize the key. If the immobilizer doesn't recognize the key, the engine wold not start at all, or would start and then die in few seconds. You can try a spare key, if it won't work, your dealer is the place to call. Sometimes, the key is just need to be reprogrammed. On some cars you can find the information how to reprogram the key in the owner's manual.

I'd start with simple step: battery. I mean in your pocket key battery, not that under the hood
