So I decided that I couldn't be bothered buying the Nology Silver plugs until I am willing to commit every cent to the hot wires and powercores... (only just got a new job :P)

I got me some NGK's for now and read somewhere that they are actually gapped too far apart than the factory standard. I have a gapping tool and was wondering what the exact gap specification is for our car or what any users recommend that is better than factory (if they have any experience).

Edit: I know this has already been addressed in the past however I noticed that my plugs are the LTR5IX-11 plugs and there is no mention of the gap for these plugs anywhere. I am guessing they should be set to 0.52 but I want to make sure.

Where abouts under the hood? And what is a catalyst sticker?

Under my hood I have two VIN Number stickers and that is all.

Nevermind everyone. I found the gap size. It is 0.049-0.053 inches.

When using my gaping tool I have to use two plates together (0.035in/0.88mm and 0.015in/0.38mm which equals 0.05in/1.26mm to be exact)

Therefore, the perfect size is ~ 0.5in or 1.26mm

note: of course anything farely close is still okay, and sorry for all the jibberish, I just need it in milimetres because we use metric

Depending on what brand you buy (stock plugs are NGK), go to the manufacturer's website. NGK gives you the proper gaps for the different flavours (copper, platinum and iridium). I believe they are all like 0.054 something.

Yahoo answers hahaha. Yeah I thought so too, but NGK pre-gaps it "wrong" so I would think the information is not correct.

I had bought some plugs right from Canadian Tire and the sales person said that the special iridium ones were pre-gapped. WRONG. They were almost touching the tip! I have always gapped the plugs myself and even experimented with larger gaps when I have used lower resistance plug wires. Heck, I think I have mine at around 0.060+ right now and don't seem to have any issues..... maybe losing top end lol

hahaha no way! That's interesting to test out. I'm currently in talks with nology about the hotwires and powercores. The output is really high so I may need to increase the gap as well. I can't get hold of any silver plugs until january next year so if I don't re-gap the stockies, it might wear them away
