I have had a weird noise happen every time I turn off my engine. I'm home sick from work today and decided to record it on camera. The audio quality sucks, but if someone knows whats going on I would greatly appreciate any advice.

I am not really sure where the noise is coming from exactly. This video is also on a cold start.

You can hear it when I turn off the engine. It sounds like air being sucked, or something rubbing maybe. It could be something else though.

Thanks

oooo yeah I can hear it. It sounds similar to the noise that a CAI makes when it sucks in the last bit of air with shut off, but it is definitely not that. It sounds exactly as told, like something rubbing that eventually stops from friction once the engine is off. You may want to check if anything is touching the alternator belt, the plastic in the wheel well can come off over time and cause it to rub. Also, make sure it is not the A/C fan or radiator fan. If they got dust in them or the bearings are going out then the fans tend to be very noisy (unless they are sleevless fans)

Worst case scenario, could be an air leak of some sort in the intake manifold but I doubt that because it doesn't sound whistly enough.

Ok, so I did some messing around today. I noticed that when you shut off the power, the TB opens fully, and then closes. I don't know if this is causing the problem, but the noise seems to be coming from that area. I'm thinking about just letting the dealer look at it (although I hate going there).

Have you got any performance parts on the car at all?

If it is the noise of air being sucked into the engine through the TB at shutoff then I would think that is normal. My car used to do it but since I got the injen CAI with a massive k&n pod it receives air very easily so you don't hear it.

Nope, none at all. If it's normal then that's fine, I just wanted to make sure that nothing bad was going to happen lol.

I had to do the same repair for the same reason/noise, the gear in the TB butterfly motor gets stripped and skips. Replace the TB, you can't get just the motor, you have to buy the whole TB, I think it was like $300 from the dealer. You may also notice when you are driving around that you have delayed acceleration...

If its a TB you need dont spend 300 bux at the dealer, search for some here in the buy sell threads. I think frontline was selling some optimized ones as well as twowheelin who has been optimizing tb's for years. Both will cost less than $300. And you can def install it yourself. I have done it at least 5 times to clean and troubleshoot. It's just 4 bolts.

And I recommend optimized tb's 1111% lol
