Hi there.
I was looking on ebay for mazda6 pcm's and came upon a large number of different styles. I don't necessarily need one now, but thought it would be good to buy one while they're cheap. But wow! There's at least 3 different styles that I can see. All 2.3 are made by Mitsubishi Electric Corp. 3.0 one is by Denso. Let alone the models numbers, there's at least 10 different models.

Check them out!
latest black style:

strange looking wide connector style circa '05 by denso:

'05 2.3 pcm:

'06 style l3p6:

From what I gather, pre '06 used wide connector, '06+ uses double connectors.
Is there a way to find out which would work on your car? Are all pcms with same connectors compatible with each other, or is it they must also match model numbers?

Is I want to get a piasini tune, will any pcm work, or would it have to be a certain model?
PS: why did they make so many different pcms for the same engine'd car? There's 3-4 diff pcm models for each Model year! What's the differences internally and does anyone know which is more desirable?

Thanks
