so i was driving down the highway rolling with my friends. we were doing a gumbball rally down the highway chasing an audi rs4. so i was acceleration in 4th doing about 115. my rpms were at around 5300ish, i had let off the throttle then immediately floored it again and my rpms jumped straight to 6500 and i hit the speed limiter so fast. then later on that afternoon i was accelerating at normal speeds and i tried this again. i was accelerating in 2nd gear and i let off the throttle and then floored it again and it seemed to give the car some extra juice. any ideas on why this is? any ideas about my weird rpm jump? mayb torque converter or something?

waffle @ at chasing an RS4

you probably drive an automatic and it might be something with the torque converter

yup its an auto...sadly. it was my sisters car, but non the less a great hand me down. it drives smoothly. handles incredibly for FWD, and has some decent top end power. makes a nice noise too =]. but yea im thinking something with the torque converter. and the rs4 didnt seem that fast. i mean i was maxed out at 123 but my friends vw gti 2.0t was right up its ass

yes the rs4 weighs close to two tons but i doubt that gti was keeping up, vids or it didnt happen...

RS4 = sex, i would sooo get one...

is this your first car? if so i could understand why you feel the way you do about the car... just wait when you start making some $$ and buy your own choice of car... you'll be like "wtf was i thinking"

is there a reason we feel the need to say how fast we and others are able to drive on public hwy's? though it's not necessarily "racing" please refrane from those type of posts, they are not needed in any way to convey the question at hand.
