Loud squeal during idle (egr valve?) - Mazda 6 Forums : Mazda 6 / Mazda Atenza Forum

Hey guys, I'm new here, but I've enjoyed reading the posts. I have a 2003 with 149,000 miles and recently I've had a loud squeal during idle. The sound stops when I push the accelerator, and it seems to change pitch as the idle changes but it happens regardless of the temperature. My CEL is also on. I don't remember the exact code, but I believe it was for a faulty EGR valve. I tried to look online, but I can't seem to find more information on it. Does anyone know where the egr valve is (hopefully through a picture)? I'm hoping the leak is in the vacuum line feeding the egr valve or from the egr gasket. If not, my next try is to check the intake gasket, but I'm trying to work my way up. Thanks in advance.

hi, new member. my g/f has a 06 with the 4 banger and if she is sitting in traffic or drive thru, her engine will begin to squeal unless she gases it or puts it in park....did you ever solve your problem?
