Starting to see a lot of trucks with these straps hanging on the road. If you do it please put it up underneath your car in the middle so it doesnt stand out so much.

Change your SHOES! Seriously - I bet you have some foam bottom stuff and its you who is "all charged up" and abusing the car! Try some leather or actual rubber soles before your car gives you the finger! lol
That and look at the humidity. It's likely very dry out - i.e. humidity less than 25% or so. Take a look in your area and report. Couple the weather with sole and walla! Zaaaaaap!!!

The Toyota Venza actually has a big problem with this. The way that their seats are made and the material they make them with provides the perfect conditions for you to gather a static charge.
Imagining all the finger/hand prints on my car when reason GreyGhost's suggestion made me cringe haha. But he's got a point. Just avoid the metal so you can't discharge that onto the grounded car.

Yeah, Utah is very dry but I get shocked in my leather dress (w/rubber soles) shoes every day. I'll have to test with my tennis shoes if I get shocked. I haven't paid that much attention recently.
