Hi all.

My M6 136hp Diesel has developed a problem. Noticed the oil pressure light faintly flickering when cruising at around 85 mph, roughtly 3000 rpm. I slowed down and then when I got home checked the oil, it was fine.

I took the car out again and pulled hard in 4th and as the car passed 3000 the light flickered on again, the car lost a bit of power, then the light STAYED on. I immediately stopped the car, turned it off, waited a minute and re-started, but the oil pressure light was still on.

I called my mate who came out and towed me to my local Mazda specialist. When I got there I briefly ran the car to park it up, this time the oil pressure light went out. The specialist then pressure tested it and confirmed that the pressure is fine at idle, but as soon as the engine is reved then the pressure goes to nothing.

Can anyone please advise what may be wrong as the specialist doesn't know?

Sorry to tell you but this is a common problem with the diesel 6 and it is usually the fuel pump that causes this and a new one can be 1500 quid.Mazda know about the problem but wont do anything about it.

Not entirely sure what the problem might be but definitely DO NOT buy a Saab to replace it.....thatwould be a BIG mistake!
