hi,
got 160.000 miles mazda 6 2003, 136hp. clutch pedal strains foot, hurts for weeks/months. someone told to change the whole clutch assembly, including flywheel. what is the most probable reason for heavy clutch pedal - clutch cover+plate, maybe slave cylinder or clutch cable? what is the best guess, cause i was quoted over 700pounds to replace clutch kit+flywheel. thanks ed7777@gmail.com |

its unlikely to be the slave cylinder and more likely to be the clutch pressure plate at fault... sadly it does look like the box has to come out for a new clutch kit.... as for the flywheel this wouldn't cause the clutch to be stiff but needs to be checked for excessive play which sadly can only be done when the box is out... i was lucky cus i'm in the trade and got mine done for 280 but i didn't need a new flywheel.... mine did around 80,000 when it started to slip and they are quite heavy on clutches.... yrs must be due its second i would have thought
